It is currently the middle of winter so most of us are only yearning for the beach; not sitting right on it. Have you ever considered transforming your home into a "coastal chic" design? If you are just moving into a new home, or in the midst of a major renovation/decorating effort, now is the perfect time!
Here's the easiest way to go about accomplishing that beautiful Cape Cod feel!
White Furniture and Light Pieces: Nothing screams "winter" or "cabin" like large, dark pieces. In order to accomplish the seaside look you need to go the opposite direction. You need white wooden furniture, light fabric sofas and chairs, and cottage-inspired pieces.
Light Paint Colors: Light greys, whites, blues, greens, and even yellows. Think of the beach and stick to the colors that come to mind!
Seaside Decor: Now, on to the fun part--decor! Starfish, oars, paddles, buoys, crab and lobster traps, seaside paintings, coral, shells and more. But, don't overdo it! You don't want each room to look like a gift shop!
Open Shelving, Windows, and Natural Light: Whether it's in the living room or in the kitchen, open shelving and natural light are two things that come to mind when we hear "beach house." Little trinkets shimmering with beams of natural light is a fantastic look!
